PS5 Will Reportedly Not Support 1440p Output

3.8
It’s fair to say the PS5 is one of the most anticipated pieces of tech coming in the near-future. It will help bring in a new generation of consoles with a lot of new improvements and features, such as the much hyped up SSD as well its DualSense controller that seems to be making quite the splash. There is one thing it will seemingly not do, however, that will bum out a subset of fans.

According to a recent report from IGN Italy, the PS5 will not support 1440p output. They claim that this was clarified to them directly from Sony. While for a lot of people this won’t mean much, a lot of those who play with PC monitors prefer to use monitors with that output for a variety of technical reasons. If you happen to use one of those 1440p monitors, that means you will mostly likely either get a 1080p output that will upscale to your monitor, or a 4K output that will downscale, though the actual details of how that’ll work is unclear at this time.

The PlayStation 5 will release on November 12th in some regions with a worldwide rollout on November 19th.

OGTrey079 That's kind of sad seeing how these next gen consoles wont really run 4k at high refresh unless its a 2D game

you know what refresh rate means right its not the same as fps, refresh rate is just how many frames are calculated per second, 144fps=144 refresh which is called update frames, but yeah i agree its kinda sad

Im stoned pardon me but yea fps. These consoles have to work out the fps issues. If people saw 1440p at high refresh over choppy 4k i think they'd go with the 1st option.
