Running from October 20 until November 3, it will feature a range of spooky content which brings the Saw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre universes into the games, including the release of previously leaked Billy the Puppet and Leatherface store bundles.
Available in select Warzone modes such a Trios, Activision says a night version of Verdansk will include “more than a few Halloween-themed frights”, while Zombie Royale sees fallen players come back to life as fast-moving and long-jumping zombies with increased melee attacks and thermal vision. The undead can rejoin their living squad mates by collecting syringes dropped by dead combatants.
Multiplayer will get two new modes during The Haunting of Verdansk. Onslaughter sees teams fighting for control of a Juggernaut suit and making their way to a specific goal area, while Snipers Only is a Team Deathmatch variant featuring five pre-set loadouts.
Cosmetic changes will include giving high scoring players flaming pumpkin heads on the battlefield, using scarecrows instead of flags for domination points, and replacing dog tags with skulls.
A Trick or Treat scavenger hunt will see a series of specially marked supply boxes located throughout Verdansk. Some will contain treats including weapon blueprints, a holographic watch, charms, stickers, sprays, calling cards and emblems, while others will contain “a brief scare”. Finding all 16 rewards will unlock the Pumpkin Punisher legendary assault rifle blueprint.
And the new, fully automatic JAK-12 shotgun can be unlocked via in-game challenge, or a blueprint variant can be bought as part of the Lacedaemon store bundle.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, which is set for release on November 13, was recently confirmed to include the next Zombies chapter featuring a new story led by fresh characters in a different time period.
Traditional Zombies elements return in the form of four-person co-op, round-based survival, Perks, the Pack-a-Punch machine, Wall Buys, and the Mystery Box.
But for the first time players will be able to start Zombies matches with weapons they’ve unlocked and upgraded rather than the standard starter pistol. And a new optional exfiltration system means the game doesn’t have to end in death as has previously been the case.
