Look, we knew that the PS5 was a big boy. That was essentially confirmed last week when Sony posted the teardown video of the console. As of today, though, we’ve now seen our first look at the packaging that will be carrying that next-gen console to retailers and my goodness, I hope you’re bringing a forklift with you to carry it out of the store.
In what continues to be the most bizarre marketing collaboration ever, Burger King of all places has today given us our at the box the PS5 will come in. Seen in a new video, which you can watch below, the ad shows off customers in select Burger King restaurants unwrapping a PS5 box from some packaging. Some of these customers even hold this box up to give us a full examination of its size and yeah, this thing is a behemoth. The PS5 box looks like it’s nearly half the size of some of these folks that are holding it.
Look, I’m not one to care much about the aesthetic or size of video game consoles — I shove these things under my entertainment center and almost never think about them afterward. Even then, as we see people hold this PS5 box up (assuming that this is the finalized packaging), it’s still so jarring to me how enormous it is. I’m honestly really excited at this point just to see one of these in person. It’s going to be a thrilling moment for reasons I wasn’t initially expecting.
The PS5 is due out in a little under a month and will release on November 12 in select regions. If you’d like to see more of the console actually in action today, PlayStation finally unveiled the platform’s user interface earlier today as well.
