Battlefield 3's Textures Before & After Xbox 360 Install

4.4
Battlefield 3 has had a strange launch. From server downtime to the PlayStation 3 version's mysterious missing copy of Battlefield 1943 , the game has been in the headlines for reasons EA and DICE most likely wish they could have avoided. And no version is without its own weird quirks, it seems - the Xbox 360 iteration of Battlefield 3 comes with an optional HD texture install, asking players to allow 2GB of textures to be loaded onto the hard drive.
What happens if you don't let the game install? Well, um... you might just want to take a look.
If you're planning on getting the Xbox 360 version you're going to want to clear off some hard drive space, or else you're going to be spending your time looking at a game looks a generation old. It's starting to feel like this current console generation is bursting at the seams, with developers struggling to fit their games to work within the limitations of 2005's hardware.
We wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see things like this continue for the next year or so, or at least until the next iteration of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is announced.

No1 This is another example of Microsoft needing to update the graphics card in the slims.

That would cost an unbelievable amount of money. They'd have to create an entire new processor, or even tweak it but what would be the point? It'd cause more hardware failures like we had seen at the beginning of the initial 360 release. A graphic's card isn't the sole aspect of "good graphics" but everything that powers it, a new motherboard with more features and support, new processor, etc. Consoles will never keep up with PC. The graphics Xbox has now is what PC had in 2006, lol. Saddening enough. They just need to create a whole new console.

TTG-ColtDoxt1245 This is why BF3 is meant only for PCS not consoles. Console version sucks

+1

The game looks amazing on the pc and crap on consoles.

MW3 will look good on xbox and will have a better interface, besides dedicated servers :P

You cant possibly know that since the game hasn't come out yet and how can you say Mw3 will look better than BF3 ? W/ the HD Pack installed it looks amazing and Mw3 doesn't have dedicated servers; it runs on P2P Connection.

MW3 will look and run better on consoles because it is made for consoles where BF3 is made for PC, that's how he knows it will look better. He never said it has dedicated servers he is saying that is a downfall. And don't say i'm a COD fanboy because i'm not, in my opinion both COD and BF suck

wow it passes as space raiders without the texture pack, good luck I have the slim 200 gb or something

Come_Touch_Me I'm pissed, because with the 4GB version of the Xbox Slim, you can't download the texture pack. Even though I have an 8GB flash drive plugged into it, with 7.3 gigs of open space, it won't let me. Says that you must have a hard drive in order to do it. (4gb consoles don't come with hard drives. They have a built in memory stick that can't be removed... same damn thing imo.

Why would you even buy a 4GB Xbox?
