GeForce RTX 3070 Has Been Delayed to October 29th

The RTX 3070 has been delayed a couple of weeks. Hopefully, the new graphics card will have more stock compared to the release of the RTX 3080.

Those of you wanting to pick up the cheapest of the latest Ampere-powered graphics cards from Nvidia, you might have to wait a couple more weeks. Nvidia has announced that it has delayed the launch of the GeForce RTX 3070 until October 29. The card was initially going to be released on October 15.

In a blog post, Nvidia stated that the news may be disappointing to some, but said that the delay will allow its partners to get more graphics cards into its customer’s hands on launch day.

This news comes after Nvidia had to apologize for stock shortages during the botched launch of the Geforce RTX 3080 last month. If Nvidia was not prepared for the launch of that graphics card, one can assume that they would not be ready for the launch of this one. The company even stated they were not prepared for the demand for the new GPUs since they sold out almost immediately. A two-week delay might help get those extra units in stock so that the release day isn’t too crazy.

Maybe it is just the pessimist inside of me, but the launch of the RTX 3080 was not great. As stated above, everything sold out instantly. It probably went worse than the pre-order fiasco for the PS5, which was also a disaster. Let’s hope Nvidia can prove me wrong.

The GeForce RTX 3070 starts at $499 and is the cheapest of Nvidia’s latest graphics cars. The GPU was announced alongside the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 back at the beginning of September. The RTX 3070 should be able to match the performance of the RTX 2080 Ti that released the last generation and is about 60 percent faster than the RTX 2070.
