When we first saw this little adorable ginger kitty cat, it was during PlayStation’s The Future of Gaming event in June this year. In the trailer, we saw the wandering and lost kitty walking the streets and jumping the rooftops of a mysterious neon-lit city while wearing a backpack and trying to find its way home. It was probably the most adorable PlayStation 5 trailer we have seen so far and I don’t know about you, but I haven’t stopped gushing about this cat since. If you’re in the same boat as me and want to know more about this game, thankfully PlayStation has revealed a little bit more on what you’ll expect from the story and gameplay.
In yesterday’s update to Stray‘s webpage over on PlayStation, we are treated to a new game overview that begins with the words “Lost, alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity and find the way home. Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. See the world through the eyes of a stray and interact with the environment in playful ways.” The page continues to talk about how the little kitty will explore this strange cybercity by “roaming surroundings high and low” and having to protect itself from lurking threats found within the neon metropolis. It also hints at having to solve mysteries of the city in a “place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures.”
If you have ever owned a cat or watched their behavior, you’ll know how funny and daft they can be at times. Developer BlueTwelve Studio has kept this key feline attitude within the game as another part of the page states to “Be nimble, silly, and sometimes as annoying as possible with the strange inhabitants of this foreign world.” Being annoying is just being a cat, right? Shouldn’t be too hard. It also goes on to say that in Stray, “the cat befriends a small flying drone, known only as B12. With the help of this newfound companion, the duo try to find a way out.” This game sounds like it will be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see further details on the mechanics and more gameplay trailers showcasing this adorable kitty and what adventures it will go on.
