Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 Install Size Revealed

4.4
As in the case of all game releases, some retailers break the rules and sell a few copies early. In this instance, some gamers who received the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 decided to see just how much HDD room the game will take up.

With two discs and a high quality texture pack, Battlefield 3 is a hefty game. Based on the pictures from the early release copies of the game, the single player disc will take up 6.7 GB, and the multiplayer/co-op disc will take up 7.3 GB. If you decide to install the texture pack, you will need an additional 1.5 GB of space. With updates and all, the full game with all the bells and whistles will require 15.5 GB of hard drive room. The interesting fact is that this is 4 GB more than the PC version of the game, which is 11.6 GB.

So there you have it, Battlefield 3 installed on the Xbox 360. For those with limited room, you will definitely need to make some hard choices on what to keep and what to delete.

hustlinonradio What upsets me is the day one patch being 167MB. At launch (or in fact at anytime for a retail game) this is the biggest patch that i have ever seen on the 360 which for me signifies that this game was in a pretty bad state when they went gold and that the beta that we were playing was closer to launch build that we were told by DICE. Of course if yo have connection to XBL (and a harddrive) this won't matter but if you are in an isolated area and just want to hit up some BF3 alone (yes that does happen people) then you maybe experiencing a poor game

Best post i've seen in a while. Brings up many peoples worries (mine included).

Gears 3's beta Tu was 500mb

Which is why i specifically said for any retail game in my post. Look i am not saying that DICE shouldn't make updates, they had a huge 1gb update for BC2 but that was downloadable and about a month or two after launch to fix certain things and set up the downloadable maps.

But the fact that you have to also take notice that multiple review sites have not even gotten their copy of the console versions of Battlefield 3 yet so close to launch to realize that EA does not want reviews to come out before patch because it will probably be negative so hold it out as long as possible so the patch is out which fixes the problems and more positive reviews for the game. It's just a bad situation
