Razer Accidentally Leaks Info For 100,000 Customers

Customer email addresses and shipping details are among the info accidentally leaked by Razer

Razer, a gaming hardware manufacturer with a product list ranging from phone clips for controllers to specialty gaming phones accidentally leaked the personal information of over 100,000 customers recently.

Detailed in a report by cybersecurity consultant Volodymyr Diachenko, the information leaked includes full names, email addresses, phone numbers, billing and shipping addresses for Razer customers. Credit card information was not leaked by the company. The report, published September 10, has since been confirmed by Razer, which stated the following:

“We were made aware by Mr. Volodymyr of a server misconfiguration that potentially exposed order details, customer and shipping information. No other sensitive data such as credit card numbers or passwords was exposed. The server misconfiguration has been fixed on 9 Sept, prior to the lapse being made public. We would like to thank you, sincerely apologize for the lapse and have taken all necessary steps to fix the issue as well as conduct a thorough review of our IT security and systems. We remain committed to ensure the digital safety and security of all our customers.”

While criminals can’t use the data to steal your identity or get into your bank account, Diachenko’s report does say that customers should be aware of phishing attacks. These attacks could come in the form of people reaching out to you over email or by phone claiming to be Razer or another affiliated company in an attempt to get your private information. If you’re a Razer customer (like I am), be extremely aware of what arrives in your inbox over the coming weeks, and be sure not to click on any suspicious links.

I forgot razer existed if i'm being completely honest. Last time I saw something from them was their mini-PC case thing, looked cool, probably overpriced as shit though.
