This week's Red Dead Online patch notes are all about a new legendary animal - the Banded Gator, an "untamed beast older than time itself nesting outside Saint Denis."

Beware, as the gator has a taste for human flesh, but if you can maintain a safe distance to sedate this big boy for Harriet, or kill the prehistoric beast and give it to Gus, you'll get some nice Red Dead Online rewards for it.

Turn in the Banded Gator skin to Gus and you can get a new custom Banded coat made out of it - nothing says badass like gator. Plus, crafting any coat at his store will get you a free vest, crafting any item will get you 25 free Trader goods, and crafting any trinket will get you a free poncho. And if you're a Naturalist at Rank 5 or up, you can get a new Sighting Mission by approaching any of Harriet's shops and checking her available mission list.

There are also some new, limited-time items available in the catalogue: the Fernwater coat and Hopeman vest, plus a host of new permanent items. Check them out below.

If you're in the Naturalist game, you can enjoy a discount of five gold bars off the animal field guide, legendary animal map and sample kit, plus 30% of all novice and promising Naturalist items and the Improved bow.

Prime Gaming members who link their accounts to their Rockstar Social Club accounts will get some new freebies this week: a free Icahi coat for turning in the legendary Icahi Boar hide to Gus, five Rewards for a free box of Nitro Express ammunition, a 50 rounds of sedative varmint cartridges. Add those to the ongoing Prime Gaming benefits: five free legendary animal pheromones, 6,000 Naturalist XP, a free wilderness camp, and a free Katata coat for bringing its pelt to Gus' store.
