Obsidian Entertainment’s survival shooter Grounded launch into Early Access, and it seems as if the game is incredibly popular on Steam as it scurries up into the top-selling charts.

Grounded finds players shrunk down to the size of a bug, traversing the world in the grass with up to three friends. The game takes a different approach to Obsidian’s usual story-driven games such as The Outer Worlds and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic to name a couple.

The game is available as a Game Preview and can be picked up as part of Xbox’s subscription service Xbox Game Pass. You can also pick it up on the Microsoft Store for full-price if you want to buy it to own it. It’s also available on Steam for $29.99 as an Early Access game.

As reported by Gamespot, the SteamDB page shows that the concurrent player peak hit 12,543 last night on its first day on Steam alone. It also sits comfortably in third place on the Top Sellers chart, sitting below Destroy All Humans and the Valve Index VR Kit. It was also reported that on Twitch, Grounded jumped to the top three spots in terms of viewers. At the time of writing it has 21.9K viewers currently watching the game being streamed on the platform.



Obsidian Entertainment’s new game was revealed last year and finds players battling against giant bugs while trying to survive on whatever’s available in the small world. This includes building a base, and finding food and water. While it’s available on current-gen, it’ll be optimized for the Xbox Series X when that console eventually launches.

Grounded also has a mode for those that have Arachnophobia, and it has a fairly populated accessibility menu for those who want larger fonts or need colorblind options. It’s available on Xbox One, PC, and Windows 10.
