Ubisoft Will Continue to Charge $60 for PS5 and Xbox Series X Games

3.8
Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion will cost just as much on PS5 and Xbox Series X as they do on current-gen hardware, Ubisoft has made clear.

One of the biggest points of contention with many right now when it comes to next-gen games has been related to the retail price of these titles headed to PS5 and Xbox Series X. 2K Games made waves a few weeks back when it announced that NBA 2K21 would cost $69.99 on next-gen platforms, compared to the standard fare of $59.99. Fortunately, it now seems as though this won’t become the norm for all publishers.

During its quarterly earnings call today, Ubisoft stated that its own next-gen titles this fall, which includes that of Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, will not be seeing a price increase. The PS5 and Xbox Series X iterations of these games will still retail for $59.99, much as they do on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. While it remains to be seen if the $10 price jump for next-gen games from the publisher will happen in the future, it doesn’t seem to be something that is going to occur this year.

Ubisoft hasn’t been alone with this plan either, as Sega also revealed earlier today that its next-gen versions of Yakuza: Like a Dragon will only cost $59.99. For the moment, 2K seems to be the only publisher that has really gone out of its way to push for next-gen titles costing $69.99, which is a bit bizarre in isolation.

That said, game prices haven’t increased from their typical $60 price point in nearly 15 years, so it makes sense on paper that they would be bound to become more expensive in time. It remains to be seen what other publishers in the video game industry have planned when it comes to their own retail values for games on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but it looks as though, for now, a standard hasn’t been put into place just yet.

As i've said previously it doesn't matter how much a company charge for games, consoles, controllers or other accessories people will buy them but $60 isn't a bad price for a game, Maybe it is for a Ubisoft game but $60 is what i usually pay for games.
