Rage's setting is a post-apocalyptic one, similar that to that of Fallout, Borderlands, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Metro 2033, and Bulletstorm.

You play as a member of the Ark Program, and your character awakens from a long-induced slumber to a frightening landscape. Naturally, you set out into an unknown world to find out what happened -- and to survive.

There are various forces at work, including the friendly Resistance and the nefarious Authority. Towns and cities include settlements called Wellspring and Subway Town.

Rage features a primary story ("campaign") quest and many side quests. There are guns to find, items to collect and gadgets to build.
