Nintendo condemns alleged abuse in Super Smash Bros. community

Nintendo has addressed allegations made against several Super Smash Bros. pro players.

Over the past few days, the fighting game community was rocked by allegations of sexual harassment, abuse and other major cases of misconduct and inappropriate behaviour. Some have already led to the firing of one of EVO’s top brass, and the cancellation of this year’s digital show.

The Super Smash Bros. competitive community likewise had its fair share of allegations where several prominent players, including Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios, Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada, D’Ron “D1” Maingrette and others were accused for similar behaviour.

“We are deeply disturbed by the allegations raised against certain members of the competitive gaming community. They are absolutely impermissible,” Nintendo said in a statement to the BBC.

“We want to make it clear that we condemn all acts of violence, harassment, and exploitation against anyone and that we stand with the victims.”

Nintendo, of course, does not directly organise many of the events where these incidents are said to have taken place, but fans nonetheless expected the company to come out in support the victims.

All allegations at the minute. If true, punish Joey Cuellar etc. If not, then what? He has been sacked.

Mario350 see what i dont get is why didnt they come out the first time, the people in question got lied to so i technically dont blame the people who underage sexual activities with a minor, its the minors fault not the people in question they got lied to they are the victims, not the minors who played them, do i agree on their actions no do i disagree they deserve such back lash yes.

the minors are to blame they shouldnt lie about their age. and if the people knew then they wouldnt have do pedophile things, dont lie about your age its not ok thats why this happened people.

again the victims are the ones who are now pedophiles because they got lied to, and again why didnt the "victims" report this during the time it happened? hmm seems like they wanted it to be hush hush so they can make the smash bros community crash and show that most of the people there think with their richards and believes anything you tell them

Problem I have now is all these companies acting like they doing good getting involved with claims on their platforms yet they only doing it as a PR move imo. If they really cared you wouldn't see every company possible doing it at once.
