There Will Be No Wall Running In Cyberpunk 2077

4.1
One of the coolest moments in the original Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay reveal won’t be in the final build.

The first big Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo from August 2018, showed off a whopping 48 minutes of footage. Among its many amazing moments, one in particular we won’t be able to recreate in the final game.

That being: wall running. In the original demo, V wall runs to reach an elevated position, and latches onto the wall using her mantis blade, giving her a neat height advantage. This is sadly no longer possible, as CD Projekt Red took out wall running.

Speaking to Gamereactor, level designer Max Pears explained that it had to go due to “design reasons.”

“Ah, the wall running. That is something that we removed due to design reasons, but there’s still going to be a lot of flexibility in how you move, that’s for sure,” said Pears.

That’s about everything Pears had to say. This obviously is a minor problem, but it’s nonetheless disappointing that a potentially creative way of navigating the play space is gone.

If you’re interested to learn more about what’s actually made the cut, read our hands-on impressions of a new build. We also explore why CDPR opted for three different starting areas for its different backstories as opposed to a simple questionnaire

Cyberpunk 2077 drops November 19 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X at launch.

Good. Wall running is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Daniel No wall running? why? that's implemented into like every game these days even COD now, Idk if it's a good or a bad thing though depending on how the gameplay is but we will have to wait and see!

Prefer to be on the ground personally.
