Nintendo, whose factories in China were stopped due to the covid-19 pandemic, mentioned Nintendo Switch production will be going back to normal soon.
Nikkei reported that Nintendo held a shareholders meeting at its headquarters in Kyoto on June 26. Shuntaro Furukawa, sixth and current president of Nintendo in Japan since June 2018, answered questions regarding the production of the Nintendo Switch. Regarding concerns about the supply of Nintendo Switch consoles, Shuntaro Furukawa said “The production is expected to go back to normal June hereafter”.
Availability of Nintendo Switch consoles have been pretty scarce in certain places. In Japan in particular, with how news sites are regularly reporting which shops have Switch consoles in stock, the quantity, and when will they be sold. I’ve seen that happen myself as someone who reads Japanese outlets daily. The supply of Nintendo Switch in Japan has always been a bit weird, as even before the pandemic, it could be quite hard to find one.

And with content such new console exclusives or the new Animal Crossing free update coming soon, it doesn’t feel like Switch will ever stop selling.
Personally, if you’d like to hear my Unneeded Opinion, it’s a good thing people who want a Switch will soon have a easier time finding one. In parallel, not taking account the Switch itself, but our industrialization as a whole, I can’t help but feel slightly hopeless at the world going back to “normal”. It’s not like I was expecting change though. I don’t believe in some kind of “post-coronavirus better world” one second. But it’s ironic how once the pandemic settles down, assuming it does anytime soon, one day will come where the current business model simply won’t be sustainable anymore. Anyways, stay safe and please wear a mask. I’m stupefied there’s actually people in the Land of Democracy and Justice for All citing politics or whatever as reason for not wearing one.
