Concurrent Player Count Has Steadily Grown for Sea of Thieves on Steam

3.7
Sea of Thieves has seen s steady increase in concurrent player count ever since it made its way to Steam back on June third.

Microsoft has started to open up with the idea of bringing some of its first part titles to other platforms. We have already seen a couple make their way to the Switch and/or Steam with the most recent game being Sea of Thieves. Looks like it has been the right call because the game has seen a growth in concurrent player count since the game hit the PC storefront.

Per Beinji-Sales, during the last 7 days, the player count for Sea of Thieves on Steam has increased by almost 20,000 players. To be more specific, it has increased from 41,110 on June 7th (four days since it released on the platform) to 59,404 on June 13th. You can look at the specific numbers in the attached tweet below.

The move has seemed like the right one for Microsoft. Just like we have seen with Sea of Thieves above, the slow drip of Halo games on Steam has also been quite the success as well. The game has sold over 2 million copies just on Steam. That number has likely increased since that was reported back in December.

While some might not like the move and want their exclusive games to remain exclusive to one console. Those sales wouldn’t have existed if Halo didn’t come to Steam. I think Microsoft would rather sell more copies of the game now on both PC and Xbox One rather than restricting it to one location.

Sea of Thieves is currently available for Xbox One and PC. The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass.
