We've been following closely the online numbers which feature prominently in Gears of War 3 and it seems since launching on the 20th, Friday night had the most simultaneous online players.

The actual numbers peaked at just over 400,000 across the co-op campaign, versus modes and of course people are now playing Horde and Beast modes.

It's now the weekend, and perhaps this evening, the numbers will swell further. In comparison, as of now Call of Duty Black Ops on Xbox 360 has around 260,000 online players which is more than Gears of War 3 which sits just under 177,000. Modern Warfare 2 has just under 70,000 online players. However, considering Gears of War 3 has been out for one week and the sheer numbers of Black Ops sales it's understandable. Can Gears 3 become the most played game on Xbox Live though over the coming weeks?
