Warzone Console Players are Disabling Crossplay to Avoid Cheaters

4.7
Warzone players have begun to disable crossplay due to the rampant amount of cheaters that have been infiltrating the game.

The most popular multiplayer titles on the market all have one thing in common, they all have to handle cheaters. Call of Duty: Warzone is trying to navigate those waters right now. Console players have even turned off crossplay with PC to try to avoid those pesky cheaters.

Per Eurogamer, players have continued to complain about cheaters who are still in the game. Some have been able to hit players through walls, use automatic aim-bots, have no recoil on their shots, and plenty of other unfair abilities. If you make your way over to any of the Modern Warfare or Warzone subreddits, you will find a plethora of players sharing their experiences and frustration with these cheaters.

Another Day, Another Game with Cheaters. IW, You NEED to disable cross-play with PC until you fix this. from r/CODWarzone

Infinity Ward has already stated that they have banned more than 70,000 cheaters in the game. However, it looks like the problem is still running rampant, mainly on PC. Historically, cheaters have always stayed in the PC environment due to the difficulty of getting these cheats enabled on consoles.

This has lead to console players turning off the crossplay feature in Warzone. Unfortunately, this can mean longer matchmaking times. Hell, even Infinity Ward wants you to enable crossplay because when you try to search for a match with the feature disabled, the game asks if you want to enable crossplay.

Eurogamer stated that they were able to find a match after 3 minutes of matchmaking with crossplay disabled. With it turned on? Only 30 seconds.

While you can disable crossplay for Warzone on PS4, the Xbox One is a different story. Warzone prevents you from finding a lobby on Xbox One if the feature is disabled. Though, some have had some luck brute-forcing their way into finding a match with the feature disabled on Xbox. On PC however, you are not able to disable crossplay on Warzone.

Cheaters are always unavoidable and can really take the fun out of the experience. Especially if you have been playing one match of Warzone for almost 30 minutes only to be shot by a cheater using an aim-bot. Hopefully, Infinity Ward is able to get the situation under wraps not too long from now.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you are only interested in Warzone you can download the mode for free on those platforms.

And that's why if you push a multiplayer game on PC you need an intrusive anticheat along with the dev not cheaping out on the price. An example would be EAC in apex legends vs fortnite or rust. EAC gives you what you pay for and even that AC can be bypassed through signed drivers. Valorant "should" have the best AC once it's fully online.

Maze I can't believe how bad it's gotten, they really just aren't doing anything about it? I see people complain every day

No anti-cheat no nothing. It's a shame to see because the game mode is so fun.

I play on PC and my friends play on PS4, never ran into a cheater yet from memory. Disabling globally would be so bad, it would piss a lot of people off. People have the option to turn it off if they aren't happy. What more do you want?

I don't believe on xbox that you can actually disable crossplay and still play warzone, I'm pretty sure it forces you to have it enabled so that sucks.

I played on PC the other day with two friends and ran into a whole lobby of cheaters it was awful. We just spectated to see who had the better cheat it was ridiculous.

It's unfortunate because I cross play with buddies, I haven't noticed any hackers but I'm sure theyre probably around

I haven't played against any cheaters yet.... that I know of unless they suck. But yeah I total understand why they disable it.

I haven't really had a problem with cheaters, but then again I don't play warzone all that much. Anyone know if you can actually find lobbies now when turning crossplay off in the settings?
