With update 1.8 finally out, the team at Mojang is moving forward with new additions to Minecraft. The newest creature in this popular world-building, survival game is a snow man, or perhaps more accurately, a snow golem, as Minecraft creator and programmer Markus 'Notch' Persson teased on his Twitter account.

The Snow Golem, which will be craftable, will apparently spread snow at it walks around, won't be hostile, but will toss snowballs at mobs. If it wanders into a hot biome, it'll melt. As Notch reminds his Twitter followers, snowballs don't do any damage, so it seems like the snowman will just run around cold areas and annoy zombies and skeletons.
