Infinity Ward to improve Warzone reporting, 70k cheaters banned

Infinity Ward claims to have now banned over 70,000 players for cheating in Call of Duty: Warzone.

In its latest update since a pledge to operate a “zero tolerance” policy on those who use aimbots, wallhacks and similar cheats, the developer said on Monday it was continuing to deploy dedicated security updates and improve in-game reporting.

In a previous post on March 31, publisher Activision outlined its plan to combat Warzone cheaters, including the creation of a streamlined reporting system.

“We take all forms of cheating very seriously, maintaining a level and fair playing field for everyone is among our highest priorities,” it said.

“We have been enforcing account bans since Day 1 of Warzone’s release. To date, we issued more than 50,000 permabans worldwide.”

Activision said it had a security team working around the clock to investigate cheating and hacking, including the use of aimbots and wallhacks, and that it was developing a more streamlined in-game reporting system.

On Monday the company also confirmed it has added a new playlist to the game’s Trios mode: Scopes and Scatter Guns, which limits weapons to snipers and shotguns.

This weekend will also see Double Weapon XP and Double XP awarded in all game modes, starting on April 17 at 10AM PDT until April 20 at 10AM PDT.

Golden9999 This only happens if you have cross-play on PC and Xbox and PC gets it the worst as you can be invited to PC players just to cheat.

Yeah but they need a better anti cheat system, but 70,000 cheaters banned is pretty big IMO.

A better anti-cheat?
An anti cheat in the first place would be a good start, the game doesn't even have one.

The only way players can get banned is from user reports.

The game doesn't even have an anti cheat??? what the hell.

You would think they would have invested in one but apparently that is not on their list of priorities.

Sad to see they didn't even bother investing in one as they had to know this mode would be popular.

Good to see. They ruin the game and make warzone really annoying. I have only ran into one myself and it just kinda killed the mood for the squad.

Yin As an Xbox player, I wish I could just play with PlayStation because of this stuff. I wonder if they are concerned with Ground War as well because I ran into a few modders and these people getting on top of Aniyah Palace (a glitch, not mod.) It's annoying as hell. I lived through Halo 2. I've experienced enough modding to last a few lifetimes. I got no tolerance for it anymore.

I know JackFrags who is a popular Youtuber commented on this saying a fix would be to turn PC crossplay off with PS4/Xbox, that would ruin the game. They would lose out on so much money it wouldn't be worth in my opinion.

Just need a better anti-cheat system. This is what happens when you release a free to play game which has millions of players.

An anti-cheat system really needs to be in place. Yes, hackers will find a way to bypass it eventually but at least it keeps them busy looking for the next bypass, not literally having a worry in the world because the only way they can get banned is from player reports.
