Ankh: Gods of Egypt Hits Kickstarter Goal in 15 Minutes

4.5
Ankh: Gods of Egypt launched on Kickstarter today and pretty much immediately blew past its funding goal, making it yet another success for publisher CMON.

When it comes to board game publishers, they don’t get much bigger than CMON Games. So of course, it was to no one’s surprise when their latest project Ankh: Gods of Egypt funded nearly instantly on Kickstarter. The game is absolutely massive and comes from Eric Lang, the mind that gave us great games like Blood Rage and Rising Sun. Check it out below.

If you’ve ever played a CMON game, you know what you’re getting from this production. They make stunning minis that, when painted, are almost more art than board game pieces. CMON also boasts world-class production qualities, meaning the entire production is just going to look and feel premium. As far as gameplay, Ankh is a competitive game for 2-5 players. You’ll take on the role of an ancient Egyptian god and fight for supremacy. Each god has their own unique special power. These variable player powers mean that mastering each god will be of utmost importance. There’s also an interesting twist where at some point in the game, two players join together to form a team. I don’t think I’ve seen that before, so color me intrigued by that alone.

If you’ve played either Blood Rage or Rising Sun, you likely have a good grasp of what to expect. Personally, I prefer Blood Rage mostly due to the theming; however, your mileage may vary. It definitely seems like the various powers each god uses has a major impact on the game. If you’re a fan of variable player powers, Ankh might be your game of choice in this particular series of games.

Gossip Would like to see some game play before I actually judge it.

Yeah I'm wanting to see some game play but I'm interested on this.

Since it's in early stages I don't think we will be seeing a trailer anytime soon but it will be nice to see some gameplay or trailer not to far down the road.

Definitely going to keep my eyes peel'd for some sort of game play though/ updates.

As far as I can tell we won't see any for quite some time but I'm sure they will keep us updated on their social medias or maybe the devs will give us some sneak peaks to what they're working on.
