Valorant Developer Discusses 128-Tick Servers, Netcode in New Video

4.1
Riot Games’ Valorant has been seeing a pretty strong response, despite only being in closed beta. It notched up an impressive 1.7 million views on Twitch within its first day and the developer’s experience with competitive multiplayer games seems to be paying off. In a new developer diary, technical director Dave Heironymus and technical engineering lead David Straily talk about the more technical aspects of online play.

Valorant will be using 128-tick rate servers which is a pretty big leg up over titles like Overwatch. The development team has also been very vocal on aspects like cheaters and corner peeking that could be detrimental to the online experience. We’ll see how all of this pays off outside of a closed beta environment though.

Valorant is currently in development for PC and will release as a free to play title this Summer. Other upcoming titles from the studio include Legends of Runeterra, a digital CCG which releases on April 30th, and Project L, a fighting game with League of Legends characters. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Gossip Looks like its worth the download for sure. Gotta try it.

You can't just download it now though right? You need beta key?

In order to play you need to get a drop from any twitch streamer playing valorant.

It definitely is. Pretty fun if you can get some of your friends on to play as well. Good luck getting a drop from twitch!

128 tick servers will be sick for those that are playing the game.
