Resident Evil 4 Remake is Reportedly in Development at Capcom

3.8
It looks like Resident Evil 4 will be getting the remake treatment after Capcom saw the success of the Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes.
After remaking both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, it looks like Capcom will keep the train going with a remake of Resident Evil 4.

According to Video Games Chronicle, Capcom has greenlit the development of the cult classic. The game has entered full productions and has an estimated release window of 2022.

M-Two, the new studio that was founded by PlatnumGames head Tatsuya Minami, will be leading the development. It has been prepping for the task since back in 2018. Capcom’s internal teams along with some external studios will more than likely support in some ways.

Shinji Mikami, the original director of the game has given his blessing for the remake to start production. However, he did turn down an offer to lead the development himself. He did provide the developers with some direction though.

Resident Evil 4 is widely known for not only being one of the greatest survival horror games of all time, but one of the greatest games ever made. The switch to an over the shoulder perspective was an absolute game-changer and is still being widely used in many games today. It revolutionized the genre and possibly saved the Resident Evil franchise.

This is why I am a bit hesitant to get excited about a remake of the game. Remakes are usually needed to fix issues that were apparent in the old version or to update the game if it hasn’t aged all too well. I believe RE 4 is one of the closest experiences to a perfect game. The combat, pacing, atmosphere, characters, everything about it is just sublime. I fear that a remake might change aspects that simply do not need to be changed. It will be nice to see how incredible the game will look remade for next-gen hardware though

As stated above, the Remake of Resident Evil 4 has an estimated the release year of 2022 and one can probably assume that it will release of next-gen hardware as well.

Gossip Not a big fan of the remakes they should just make new games. But remaking an original that people like is good for their pockets I guess.

That's really the only reason they do it. They're trying to capitalize as much as they can off of older games because they know people will buy them.

The 2 remakes were absolutely awesome. Re4 remake is most likely going to be awesome as well. Also, new re game 2021.

Resident Evil 7 was a different feel to the RE series but nonetheless it was probably my favorite one. Next year with the RE8 release (hopefully no delays) I plan on playing it right away. So excited!

It'd be cool to see but I rather see them continue on with the production of resident evil 8. I'm far more excited for that.
