Activision will reportedly release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered in 2020.

That’s according to credited Call of Duty leaker Okami, who claimed on Twitter that an updated version of Infinity Ward’s game will launch this year and that contrary to previous reports, it will include multiplayer.

European ratings body PEGI reportedly rated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered in February 2019, and subsequent reports claimed the officially unannounced title wouldn’t include online play.

However, if the noted insider is to be believed, plans have since changed.

Update, March 20: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has been rated by South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee.

Original story continues: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which included single player and multiplayer modes, released for PS4, Xbox One and PC in November 2016, initially as part of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare special editions, before getting a standalone release in the summer of 2017.

During a quarterly earnings call this February, Activision Blizzard chief financial officer Dennis Durkin confirmed plans to release “several remastered and reimagined” titles later this year.



If Okami’s information proves accurate, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will be one of several major Call of Duty launches this year.

Activision announced today that free-to-play battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone will release this Tuesday, while 2020’s premium Call of Duty offering will arrive in the fourth calendar quarter of the year.
