Operation Raccoon City Slips To 2012

4.7
Despite an expected release in the fourth quarter of 2011, it appears that the next Resident Evil might move to 2012.

Speculation began after Operation Raccoon City failed to make an appearance at last week's Tokyo Game Show, fueling rumors that the game might see a delay.

In a statement to IGN, Capcom said "We haven't announced a delay in the game. Since the announcement of Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, Capcom had said that it is coming out this Winter. It still is planned to do so."

While this is technically true, the expectation after Capcom's announcement earlier this year was that we'd see the game in late 2011. "Winter" technically stretches from December 21 to March 19, and Capcom's new stance implies that the game will likely come in 2012.

If the title is delayed, 2012 will be a good year for Resident Evil fans. Capcom's 3DS title, Resident Evil Revelations, is already confirmed to be coming next year.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City is set to release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
