Netflix launches game rental service

4.5
The US movie rental service has renamed its mail-order offering Qwikster, and has quietly begun offering game rentals to at last give competition to GameFly, which has operated without significant opposition for the best part of a decade. "Members have been asking for videogames for many years," writes CEO and co-founder Reed Hastings in a blog post, "and now that DVD by mail has its own team, we are finally getting it done." GameFly can still boast of a competitive edge, however: its catalogue covers a far wider range of formats than Qwikster's PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

Netflix is offering a game rental service? They should probably fix their movie selection first. If the game choices are as random as the movies, one of the few games will probably X-Men: Destiny or something...

I recently got an email regarding this.

I was disappointed to see the separation of streaming and DVDs by mail though.

Hopefully now the stream-able movies will be better though...

Only if consoles could use cloud gaming that would be awesome playing games in a instant no download required I mean sure its great that xbox has the Cloud system that stores online profiles and details but they need to try to bring cloud gaming to consoles.
