Amazon Game Streaming Platform Reportedly Launching in 2021

4.4
Originally slated to launch this year, the Amazon game streaming platform has been delayed to 2021 due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Google and Microsoft no longer seem to be alone in developing game streaming platforms. Amazon is gearing up for a big move in 2021 with Project Tempo, its own streaming platform for gamers.

After acquiring Twitch, probably the world’s most popular platform for video game streaming, Amazon started investing more in the video game industry to the point that it is now almost ready to launch its own streaming platform. Reported by the New York Times, Amazon was planning to launch Project Tempo this year, but due to the coronavirus disaster, the company will likely shift it to the next year.

On the other hand, Amazon Game Studios is currently working on multiple projects including Crucible, New World, and some unannounced titles. While it was already revealed that New World will be available in May this year, the new report suggests Crucible will launch in the same month. Both titles are open-world multiplayer survival games in which you work with your teammates and make it out alive when facing dangerous in-game challenges.

Aside from new games and the new platform, Amazon has some interesting plans for Twitch as well. Based on the source, the company may bring some interactive features to Twitch through which both streamers and viewers could affect the game that’s being played.

With Amazon stepping into the gaming industry with its own platform, the battle for the best video game streaming service will be brought to the next level. Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, has already indicated that they see Google and Amazon as their main competitors rather than Sony and Nintendo.

Currently, Google Stadia is a video game streaming platform available now with the Premium Edition. Microsoft’s Project xCloud is expected to arrive as a fully available service after the company launches Xbox Series X. On the other hand, Sony hasn’t provided any information on its plans for streaming services, however, the company has signed a deal with Microsoft to collaborate on cloud gaming projects.
