CoD: Warzone had over twice as many players as Apex Legends on day one

4.3
Call of Duty: Warzone is off to a flying start.

Activision has announced that over 6 million players jumped into Call of Duty: Warzone on its first day of availability. This is a big turnout, though hardly surprising.

By comparison, Apex Legend only managed to attract a comparatively much smaller 2.5 million players in the first 24 hours. Both Warzone and Apex Legends are, of course, free-to-play, but the former does have an advantage.

Warzone is available to existing Modern Warfare owners, so the 6 million figure is likely a mix of both free-to-play and paid players. Modern Warfare has done exceptionally well at launch, making over $600 million in three days. In fact, Modern Warfare players who have been grinding since launch actually have an advantage in Warzone.

Apex Legends was also a new IP that dropped out of nowhere. All that said, 6 million is a massive number. This is Call of Duty’s first properly free-to-play mode on consoles, too, which shows how healthy the brand is this many years in.

Infinity Ward has big plans for Warzone. The developer is looking to up the player count to 200, add bigger squads, and even new modes to keep things fresh for players. Until then, get to know what’s there today better with the help of our Warzone gameplay tips.

I haven't played any of the games but I can see why Warzone did have more players and from what I've seen it looks so FUN!!

Not surprising at all. Warzone is far better than apex in my personal opinion.

I personally like both but this isn't surprising at all.

Cookie Judging of the apex players seem to be upset they have a bit of a valid point in the argument they are making that the game dropped out of the blue but over double the amount is a lot I can see if it was a percentage more but over double is pretty tough.

I sure hope I'm not being dubbed an angry apex player lmao, both games are fun I work though so I haven't played call of duty war zone since launch day! Hopefully it keeps up the momentum as call of duty has left a bad taste in many peoples months for the past couple of years.

tO0t Warzone was leaked and talked about for weeks / months and Apex dropped almost completely out of the blue. Not really all that surprising that there was a bigger turnout lol.

Can't argue with the facts.

Its COD that's been out for a decade compared to a game that came out of nowhere... is this really surprising people fr?
