Call of Duty: Warzone Planning to Add 200-Player Support

3.9
Yesterday, Activision released Call of Duty: Warzone, the highly-anticipated battle royale game. The publisher has teased big plans for the title's future, but it looks like one of those plans has already been revealed: support for 200-player lobbies. The game currently allows lobbies of 150 players, but Activision plans to increase the frenzy with more players joining in on the action. In an interview with USA Today, Infinity Ward Studio Head Patrick Kelly revealed that the developer has already begun testing the increased player count in-house. While a tentative release window was not mentioned, it would seem that the option should be on the way sooner, rather than later!

“We brought a number of twists to battle royale,” Kelly said to USA TODAY. “I do think the world you play in is going to be undeniably unique. For one thing, we are initially going to roll out with 150 players, when you are typically seeing 60 to 100. Actually, I can tell you we are already playing with 200 players. We are going to release that a little bit later.”

Call of Duty: Warzone takes some inspiration from other battle royale games, but there are still a lot of elements that give the game its own unique feel, and increasing the player count will only help contribute to that. In the game, players parachute into a battlefield, and scrounge for cash and loot in order to buy Killstreaks and Loadouts, before taking on the other 149 players. While death takes players out of the match in other battle royale games, Warzone treats things a bit differently. Instead, players are thrown in the Gulag, where they have an opportunity to participate in a 1v1 Gunfight, where the winner gets to head back into battle. The game is currently available as a free download on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

It will be interesting to see the effect the increased player count has on Warzone's gameplay. The game already boasts one of the bigger lobbies available in a battle royale game, and the increased size will definitely have an impact on player strategy. One thing is for sure, with so many people battling at once, the game is certain to live up to its title!

Are you a fan of Call of Duty: Warzone? What do you think of the idea of increased lobby sizes?

200 players is a lot... I fight all game every game with 150 as it is and can't catch a break. Seems like too much if you ask me.

they need to make it solo duo and squads, screw the apex legends bullsh*t 3player only mode sometimes i just want to kill sh*t solo, i know you can turn off auto fill but i dont want to fight a squad vs 1, but this game mode from what i played yesterday when it launched its a good idea for br, but single mode is boring when you dont wanna play with stupid randoms and or your friends dont have the disk space for it.

im glad what they did with the game, but still mad they didnt think about us solo players

ryan2k9 Firstly, 150 players is way too much. The mode feels all over the place. My opinion is it's one of the worst battle royal games and here's a few reasons why:

- limiting the player to 3 players in a squad
- too many unnecessary cut scenes
- unable to dive at the same time as your squad
- Having two options to spawn back into the game (basically isn't a battle royal)
- not giving the option to turn cross play off

And theres many more. Like I said this is just my opinion but I'd definitely be against 200 battle royal

You just described Apex Legends as well bud. The gamemode was meant to be hectic period. IMO if you and your team is not good enough guess what you're going to die anyway. Two chances is to make it more fast paced. The gamemode is also not littered with cut scenes, there's literally only two. Plane jump and gulag 1v1. Doesn't sound like its for you anyways sense you're pointing out minor things.

Define Battle Royale for me bud. LAST MAN STANDING - SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST - Guess what, if your trash, you're going to lose same as any other BR out right now.

It's already a little hectic as it is. 150 is more than enough imo.
