E3 2020 Planning Not Currently Affected by Coronavirus

3.4
GDC has just been cancelled by its organisers with hopes of bringing the event back in the summer, but is the coronavirus having much of an effect on the planning of video game events scheduled to take place later in the year? We all know that despite its declining relevance, E3 is still the biggest and most important of the bunch, and it says that its plans have not been held back by the virus. For now, at least.

Patrick Klepek of VICE Games got in touch with the ESA following the cancellation of the Game Developers Conference, who replied stating: "We will continue to be vigilant, as our first priority is the health, wellness, and safety of all of our exhibitors and attendees. Given what we know at this time, we are moving ahead full speed with E3 2020 planning."

It's welcome news indeed for those looking to attend the show in June and everyone else who will be watching press conferences at home, but as we all know, this is a situation which could change in a matter of days. The coronavirus is spreading at a rapid rate as more and more cases are reported each and every day. For now, however, E3 is still going ahead.

If things stay on course, soon developers will start dropping out of e3 for the year, tons of press people won't be going because of air travel, and it will end up cancelled. I really, really hope this isn't the case. E3 is like Christmas in June!
