Resident Evil 3 Remake “Dramatically Reinvents” Raccoon City

4.2
With the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake, it looks like Capcom are pouncing on the opportunity to reimagine and expand upon the PlayStation 1 classic every way they can. On top of character redesigns, an expanded story, and more, it also looks like the remake is going to change up Raccoon City quite a bit. Capcom have previously hinted at how the remake is expanding the city and its locations, and more new details make that picture a little clearer.

A new article was recently published over on the official PlayStation blog, containing new details about the upcoming remake. One of the most interesting things it touched upon was Raccoon City, which it says the remake is “much grander than a one-to-one remaster”, and is going to “dramatically reinvent” with wider city streets, some reimagined sequences, and larger areas that will “dwarf those in the original game”.

Resident Evil 3’s remake will also include new areas and locations that weren’t seen in the original game, such as new shops (including a donut shop), an expanded subway station, and a “labyrinthine” sewer sections (which gives me terrifying Resident Evil 2 flashbacks).
