Devil May Cry 5 Actor May Have Leaked The Next Capcom Vs. Game

V's voice actor, Brian Hanford tweeted out of the blue Saturday night about "the next [Capcom Vs.] game," and its new characters.
So a new Capcom Vs. game might be on the way.

Brian Hanford, the English voice of V in Devil May Cry 5, tweeted Saturday night out of the blue that he’s “absolutely pumped for the next #CapcomVS game!!! New characters but could be VERY familiar…”

There isn’t any other info out there right now regarding the existence of a new Capcom Vs. project, so file this one under rumors for the time being.

Keep your eyes and ears open, though, as there will be numerous opportunities for Capcom to announce something in the coming months. The developer and publisher will be back at E3 in June, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be on Evo’s main stage at the end of July to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary, and Sony and Microsoft are likely to hold media events of their own in the lead up to the next-gen PlayStation 5’s and Xbox Series X’s launches this Fall.

Support for Street Fighter V also appears to be winding down now that Seth and the game’s Champion Edition have closed out its fourth season, clearing the runway for a new title from Capcom’s fighting game division.

Capcom’s last crossover, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, released in Sept. 2017 and was underwhelming in many respects. The game received a brief wave of downloadable content, but the company, MvC series fans, and the fighting game community at large were quick to move on from it.

However, a misfire on Infinite hasn’t necessarily lessened the demand for another crossover fighter. So long as the game is developed with proper care, many would more than likely welcome another attempt from Capcom, especially given the roll it’s been on the past two years with some of the best performing entries into the Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Devil May Cry franchises.

Whatever Capcom has brewing, the only safe guess to be made at the moment is that V is involved in some way.

And in the event that Hanford slipped and spoke too soon, well… it wouldn’t be the first time the Devil May Cry cast has let the cat out of the bag.
