Rainbow Six Siege Has Now Reached Over 55 Million Registered Players

Ubisoft's tactical shooter, Rainbow Six Siege, continues its success setting a few records during the most recent sales quarter.
It seems Ubisoft’s tactical first-person shooter continues to grow. Rainbow Six Siege has now reached over 55 million registered players.

In Ubisoft’s third-quarter sales report, it was shown that Rainbow Six Siege had reached this momentous milestone. Additionally, the report shows that it had record high monthly active users in December 2019, growth in player recurring investment (sales of DLC, season pass, subscriptions, digital items, and advertising), and a new peak in daily average revenue per user.

It is clear that those mixed reviews Rainbow Six Siege received back when it launched in 2015 did nothing to stop Ubisoft from continuing supporting the first-person shooter. Back in September 2019, Ubisoft announced that they reached 50 million players. That means within only a few months, Rainbow Six Siege garnered another 5 million registered players.

Rainbow Six Siege is almost a completely different game from when it first launched. Now with loads of content, continued support, an active community, and its own esports league, it does not seem like it is going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, in an interview with the game’s esports director Wei Yu, he said they had a 10 plus year plan for Rainbow Six Siege and wants to bring 100 Operators to the game.

On a personal level, I think Rainbow Six Siege is the best shooter on the market. Not only does it play great and get continued support, every seasonal update feels like it brings something different to the table. Sure, sometimes there are gadgets between Operators that function similarly, but every Operator does feel very different from one another. It’s just an incredible solid shooter, and so different from all the other shooters out now, even 5 years after its release.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The last update, Operation: Shifting Tides, introduced the first bolt-action rifle to the game, as well as new gadgets and a reworked Theme Park map.
