Call of Duty 2020 Confirmed by Activision; No Developers Revealed

4.3
Activision has officially confirmed that we will be getting a new Call of Duty game this year but declined to say who is working on it.

In what can only be considered the least surprising announcements ever, Activision has officially confirmed during their fourth-quarter 2019 conference call that we will be getting a brand new Call of Duty game later this year.

Interestingly, however, the publisher DID NOT confirm which studio or studios are working on the title. While we usually never get details about the game itself this early, Activision usually doesn’t shy away from reminding the public on which studio is taking the reins this year.

For those that don’t know, earlier last year it was reported that Treyarch had taken over the development of 2020’s Call of Duty title after Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software failed to get their ideas together in enough time.

The report at the time went on to mention that Sledgehammer’s and Raven’s assets will be turned into the game’s single-player mode, with the developers supporting Treyarch.

Again, this is all speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if all of it was true, considering the credibility of the leaker.

Suffice to say we will probably have to wait a few more months until we learn more about the title. Generally speaking, we usually learn details about the year’s newest Call of Duty title sometime in May.

Until then, however, COD fans can get their hands on Modern Warfare, the newest title in the series developed by Infinity Ward. The game is set to get a new content season next week, with the character Ghost and map Rust returning from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty 2020 is rumored to be released on both current-gen consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One), as well as next-gen consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X).
