Doom Eternal’s Battle Pass-style progression system is free

4.1
We ran a story yesterday talking about the wider trend of Battle Passes replacing loot boxes and microtransactions in games.

In that feature, we cited Doom Eternal as one such upcoming game that features one of these styles of progression systems and incorrectly assumed it was paid. It is not.

“There’s no store In Doom Eternal,” a Bethesda spokesperson said. “There’s no paid Battle Pass in the game either. You play the game, earn XP, and unlock cool cosmetics. That’s it.”

The fact it doesn’t have a Battle Pass or any kind of microtransactions is just another feather in its hat – a feather we’re going to glory kill and tear off, along with its head, this March.
