Grand Theft Auto V was the Best Selling Game of the 2010s

3.3
Along with Grand Theft Auto V, the rest of the list isn't remotely surprising.

Yesterday NPD released the top-selling games of December 2019. Along with it, we learned what were the twenty best-selling titles of the 2010s and the results were more than expected. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V took the top spot unsurprisingly with releasing originally on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in September of 2013 to later be ported to current-gen hardware as well as PC. It has been in and out of NPD’s monthly top 10 since it’s release and it is looking like it is going to stay that way for the foreseeable future. We here at DualShockers happened to name Grand Theft Auto V the most important game of the decade as well.

The NPD listed twenty games total on their list and half of them were Call of Duty titles, which isn’t a surprise. From 2009 to 2019 a Call of Duty entry took the top spot every year except for 2013 where Grand Theft Auto V took over and 2018 with Red Dead Redemption II, both being Rockstar titles. Another bit worth mentioning is that fourteen of the twenty games are first-person shooters.

It will be interesting to see how this list will look come 2030 and how different the top-selling games may be. In the 2000s there was much more variety in genres including music-rhythm, FPSs, sports, and family-oriented titles. We will have to get back to you about that in ten years’ time.

Mitochondria best selling and most pay to play base in 2016-18. Though as i said the last time something like this was posted it really doesn't surprise me

I jumped back into GTA this month as a time burner not played online since 2014 and my god what the hell happened it's Pay to Win like nothing I've ever seen you would need to grind for 1000s of hours to unlock everything or pay maybe over $500 for it all. They really milked that cow dry.

I mean it's still playable once you get the gist of the direction. CEO/double rp&cash missions. Went from ~1.2m last time i played in ~2015 to 7.3m in a few days after getting the mechanics down. The criminal enterprise thing helped out as well after all $10 isn't really all too much but in the end it got me up and going again.

I mean, this is obvious... they've been topping the charts every month since release. Can't wait until gta 6 as gta v has kinda hit its limit
