Metro Redux is Headed to Nintendo Switch Next Month

Metro Redux will expose Nintendo Switch players to Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light on February 28, 2020.

While Metro Exodus for PC, PS4 and Xbox One is all the rage nowadays, a recent PEGI listing unintentionally revealed the existence of a Metro Redux port for Nintendo Switch. While many would expect this announcement to come during something like a Nintendo Direct, 4A Games and Deep Silver decided to unveiled Metro Redux for Nintendo Switch today, confirming that fans will be able to play Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light on the hybrid console next month.

For those of you that haven’t heard of Metro Redux, it is a package containing two remastered Metro games that originally came out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2014. That all remains the same on Nintendo Switch as all 10 hours of Last Light DLC and the survival and spartan play styles are intact. If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to jump into the series, Metro Redux is a great package and the added portability of a Nintendo Switch version should be nice.

Hopefully, it runs well. Deep Silver confirmed that the port was developed in house at 4A Games instead of at a porting-focused team like Iron Galaxy Studios or Panic Button. As 4A Games are already chipping away on the next Metro title, it is awesome that they took the time to port these games over and broaden Metro’s audience. Even if Metro Exodus is a bit too complex to come over as well, the release of Metro Redux on Switch at least lays the groundwork for the series to appear on Nintendo consoles in the future.

Physically, the Metro Redux package will contain both games on one 16GB cartridge. While other dual remasters like Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 have required additional downloads for the second game in the package, that is not the case here. Still, those who want the games digitally can by Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux individually. A special Ranger Cache pre-order will also net Nintendo Switch players pins, a game case sleeve, double-sided artwork, a poster and 4 art cards.

Metro Redux will finally come to Nintendo Switch on February 28.
