Resident Evil 3’s Remake Will Have More Remixed Elements Than RES2

3.7
Remaking a classic game is always a balancing act. Trying to recreate a beloved game for a new generation can be a huge task for even the most skilled studios, which makes last year’s remake of Resident Evil 2 all the more special. Though the game obviously had some big changes in how it played, remixing of locations, etc., it was by and large a very faithful recreation of the original title. Fingers crossed that lightening can strike twice when Resident Evil 3 hits later this year, but it does seem that it could have some more remixing.

In an interview with Famitsu, Producers Peter Fabiano and Masao Kawada answered several questions about the game. When asked about changes, Kawada said that the story beats would be largely the same, but that game would see more “rearrangements” than Resident Evil 2 did, saying that those who know the game’s original ending and story can still feel like they’re playing something fresh with the remake. He specifically points to Carlos, whose new design will also carry over to his personality and role in the story. This seems pretty in line with what we’ve heard earlier about the game’s supporting cast getting expanded roles.

Resident Evil 2 nailed just about everything in its landing (with the only disappointment on my end being the lack of bonus modes), so hopefully Resident Evil 3 can do the same when it releases April 3rd, alongside the multiplayer-focused Resident Evil: Resistance.

That's a good approach for us that have played the original, fantastic game. Loved the Resident Evil 2 remake even though I played the original, I hope they remake resident evil 4 even though I have beaten it over 7 times.
