AMD's Radeon RX 5600 XT may not be far behind the RX 5700

ASRock had mistakenly listed one of the versions of the upcoming Radeon RX 5600 XT GPU on its official website, and while the page is no longer available, its information has been saved. The variant in question here is the ASRock Radeon RX 5600 XT Challenger D 6G OC card. This is one of the several 5600 variants that the AIB vendor had previously filed for registration in the EEC about three weeks ago.

Rather surprisingly, the RX 5600 XT appears to have the same number of Stream Processors(SPs) as that of the 5700, though AMD seems to have cut down the memory configuration of the 5600 XT quite significantly. Going by these numbers, the 5600 XT has a bandwidth of 288GB/s which is 36% lesser than that of the 5700. The core clocks also appear to be not as high. So, in bandwidth heavy scenarios, the RX 5700 should still be a good bit faster. The approach is similar to what Nvidia took with its GTX 1660 SUPER as both the 1660 cards had the same CUDA Core count, despite the SUPER having much faster memory.

The cut-down memory configuration also means that the 5600 XT should come in cheaper than the RX 5700's $349 MSRP. We could expect to hear more from AMD at CES 2020.
