Reggie Fils-Aime Sees Next Decade As Being Big For Streaming

4.7
While Reggie Fils-Aime is no longer part of Nintendo, having stepped down as President of Nintendo America a few years back, he was a man that was meme’d to hell and back for over a decade and a half, so he’ll always have a special place in the heart of the gaming industry. He presented an award at The Game Awards this year, an event that’s become the biggest single one in gaming, and he also thinks that the future is going to be big for game streaming.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when Reggie was asked about the ‘game changing’ technology of game streaming, he sees the next decade as one where it’ll become more and more important to consumers.

“As the technology evolves to be cloud, and as download speeds increase, what it means is you’re going to be able to play any game on any device at any time. It will happen over the next decade and be something that’s really meaningful for players.”

The first major streaming-only platform came out earlier in the year in the form of Stadia, and it doesn’t seem to be doing too hot. But it’s not hard to see streaming as something that the industry will have a lot more of in the future, even if there’s a lot of challenges that no one seems to want to address, mainly things like data caps and slow internet speeds in various parts of the world.
