Halo Master Chief Collection pulls in 3 million players during Reach’s

3.9
Halo is back on PC, courtesy of the Master Chief Collection and Halo: Reach. But if you’re wondering how much people really care about re-releases of old games, Microsoft has got the numbers – and they’re in the millions. The launch already brought us an impressive Halo Reach player count on Steam, and the proper count sounds even more impressive.

Three million players logged into the MCC during Reach’s launch week across PC and Xbox One, according to Microsoft’s announcement. The publisher doesn’t provide a specific breakdown of how those numbers break down across platforms. Reach was made available to Xbox players for free as part of the console’s Game Pass service, though it still requires an extra purchase for standalone play.

Halo: Reach is the highest-ranking debut for an Xbox Game Studios title on Steam, according to Microsoft, and that much should be clear from the independent data. Recent major XGS titles like Gears 5 and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition peaked at 10,196 and 26,767 concurrent players around their respective launches. Halo MCC peaked at 161,024.

What I’m saying is this: look forward to the as-yet-unconfirmed-but-certainly-inevitable Steam version on the Halo Infinite release date.
