According to the Steam Game Statistics, the game had over 100,000 concurrent players at one point which has ensured the game joins the top ten most-played games list. At the current time of writing this, the peak of players today alone sits at 161,024 with over 55,000 playing right now. It’s a grand achievement with Halo: Reach marking the first game in the series to land on PC and Steam.

Of course, other games such as Halo: Wars and Halo: Spartan Strike have been available on Steam for a good few years now. 343 Industries will, however, be pushing out more titles with Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3: ODST, and more still to come throughout 2020.

Kotaku reported that at the time of writing, the game was the most-played game that wasn’t made by Valve. and sat in third place with 139,997 users playing, with DOTA and CS:GO. The Master Chief Collection now currently sits alongside PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and even Bungie developed, Destiny 2. Halo: Reach was the last Halo title that Bungie worked on.

The Master Chief Collection is now available on PC and Xbox One.

I'm glad it's popularity is rebuilding. Such an iconic game and loads of fun on PC.

This is great news to hear. I've always been a fan of Halo, I played the first one when I was 6 years old and continued to play them up until Halo 4 came out. I'm glad that 343 Studios is finally finding success again.

As a die hard halo fan, someone who kept playing when the population was in the hundreds, or when the series took a turn for the worse... nothing makes me happier than reading this article and seeing a huge success from Halo and 343. I know it won't stay like this forever, probably not long tbh, but damn I'm ecstatic.
