Persona 5 celebrates 3.2 million copies sold with a new Shigenori Soejima artwork, Persona 5 Royal sold over 400,000 copies in Japan.

Atlus and Sega announced via the official Japanese Twitter account of the Persona series that Persona 5 now sold over 3.2 copies worldwide.

The article on Persona Channel written for the occasion also reveals that Persona 5 Royal sold over 400,000 copies in Japan, and that the Persona series as a whole is now at over 11.1 million copies sold in total. The Persona series started back in 1996 with the release of Megami Ibunroku Persona on PS1.

An artwork from Persona character designer Shigenori Soejima was published for the occasion. It features Persona 5 protagonist Joker, along with his cat Morgana.

Persona 5 sold over 3.2 million copies for good reason. The JRPG is a must-play and also made it into DualShockers’ top 50 games of the decade. The main team behind the game is now known as Studio Zero, and hopefully, we’ll learn more about their upcoming game, temporarily titled Project Re Fantasy, in 2020.

The Persona series’ “first action-RPG”, Persona 5 Scramble, will be launching on February 20, 2020, in Japan, for PS4 and Switch. The game didn’t get a western announcement yet. Persona 5 Scramble is a sequel to Persona 5, with the Phantom Thieves getting into new adventures, with new characters.
