Need for Speed: Heat Gameplay Footage Shows Day and Night Settings

4.2
New gameplay footage of Need for Speed: Heat shows racing through both day and night tracks.

Last week we saw the launch trailer for the upcoming Need for Speed: Heat which was filled with cars, a tunnel, the police, and vroom noises. On November 1, PlayStation Underground showed off Ghost Games’ third Need for Speed title with gameplay showing the game in both day and night settings.

The video kicks off with a cinematic before moving onto the gameplay of the night setting. Lights look lovely, the sky looks pretty, and the reflections on the cars are certainly trance-inducing.

After the first race plays out, we also get to see the player choosing from a range of characters, picking a car, and then driving out into the daylight. Players can also use their phones to navigate through some in-game menus and messages.

The daylight races are also pretty and seem to include a lot of sun rays, and then we get to see more night time racing taking place with reflecting shimmering on the wet ground.

The one thing I’m still upset about is how there still don’t appear to be any underlighting neons!? Need for Speed: Underground 2 was the last time I remember truly enjoying my blue neons under my Nissan Skyline.

The game seems to be heavy in story, which can be referenced back to 2014 when Ghost games posted a job posting for a narrative designer explaining the story was “crucial”. We saw these strong story elements in Need for Speed: Payback and Need for Speed.

Need for Speed: Heat is to launch on November 8 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Yeah, baffles me as to why they are still making them. Should've given up after NFS Underground 2
