Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Fans Aren't Happy About the Game's Maps

4.2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released last night on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. And, as you would expect, the servers were down for a couple of hours. However, eventually, and most of today, players have been getting in just fine, and the general temperature of the Call of Duty community seems to range from lukewarm to impressed, with the campaign being particularly noteworthy. That said, most gamers who come to the series don't come to it for the campaign, but for the multiplayer. And again, the reception has been a mixed bag.

There's no doubting the gunplay still feels great and there's a lot of features and excellent design choices around the edges. However, there does seem to be two reoccurring complaints: no red dots on the minimap and the game's maps. Obviously, of these two, issues with the maps is the bigger concern as it's much more integral to the experience. And according to many players, a lot of the game's maps are too large, encourage camping, or are simply designed poorly.

Love the gunfight maps. Wish they would add rust to gunfight.

Hate the big bridge map. Love the other maps

Not a fan of how large the maps are at all. Miss 3 lane maps where you actually have to engage in a gunfight instead of getting killed from far off balconies or a random window. Also can't stand all the enemies sitting in their spawn with snipers. ( palace map, bridge map etc)

Anyone who says they haven't encountered this terrible play style is fos. Makes you really appreciate the 2v2 mode though.

People need to stop crying - the maps aren't that bad at all in my opinion. People have just got used to COD being fast paced with all the crappy cods released since BO2. COD 4 was decent because you could camp - I'm not saying I like camping but for me that is the COD I know and love, if you don't then don't get this game as it's proper COD not BO3/BO4 - they had the worst maps!

I never got to play the night maps in multiplayer, so just tried them in custom games, and I think their great - brings back night vision, again in COD 4. Just play the game, don't buy it on release day if you're not sure you'll like it!

I haven't ran into any large looking maps. Not sure why it is the maps fault for campers. Killstreaks encourage camping. Overall, these maps feel better than the three lane maps. Can't stand those. Every lane had someone sitting at the choke point.

I'm not happy that my right stick is broken and it constantly drifts downwards, and there isn't any setting in game for me to fix the problem.
But also some of the maps do suck but playing them over and over i've gotten a little used to them.
