Joy-Con Drift Class Action Lawsuit Claims Controllers are Defective

It is looking like Nintendo might be in some legal trouble due to this class action lawsuit to amend Joy-Con drift.

A little while ago, the law firm of Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith announced that they were filing a class-action lawsuit against Nintendo due to Joy-Con drift. The law firm was going to investigate the issue to see if there were legal grounds for compensation from Nintendo to anyone who had experienced the issue.

Per IGN, the law firm has amended its class-action lawsuit for everyone that has purchased a Nintendo Switch, a Switch Lite, and separate Joy-Con controllers. This is the law firm’s statement: “The Amended Complaint alleges that the Joy-Con controllers are defective, leading to a phenomenon known as ‘drift.'” The Amended Complaint also claims that Joy-Cons are in breach of warranty, fraud, and “violations of numerous state consumer protection statutes.”

For those of you unaware, Joy-Con drift is the phenomenon where an analog stick is acting like it is being pushed in a certain direction without anyone actually pushing it. I have seen several of my friends go through the issue and I guess it is just flat out luck if you don’t get some defective controllers in your purchase.

I would love to see anyone who has experienced this issue get compensated. When you purchase a controller, you should expect that controller to work. If Nintendo is going to charge $80 freaking bucks for it, yeah, it should work.

Drifting issues is probably why I won’t buy a Switch Lite just this yet since we have allegedly seen them experience the issue already. Hell, I would be scared to trade in my Switch for any other version since I was lucky enough to receive a pair of working controllers.
