Rockstar Focusing on Red Dead Online Content Rather than Single-Player

In a new interview, Rockstar Games discusses Red Dead Online being the main focus rather than developing single-player DLC.

In a new interview with VG247, Katie Pica, a lead online production assistant for Red Dead Online, discusses focusing on developing content for Red Dead Online instead of single-player DLC.

“We’re 100% on online right now, because like I said, there’s just so much to do, and we’re just hoping to bring everything that a player can love about single-player into the online world, and fleshed out.”

Back in July, a rumor spread via Reddit about upcoming DLC centered around aliens, but that rumor ended up being fake. With Red Dead Online, Rockstar added new bounty hunter roles and daily challenges among other things. Since Red Dead’s launch last October, the game has gone onto become the second best-selling PlayStation 4 game so far, with Grand Theft Auto V being number one.

“The team’s ambitions for Red Dead Redemption 2 were sky high in every way, and when we are building worlds of that scale, the single-player experience almost always leads the way,” says Tarek Hamad, an online producer. “Our ambitions for our online games are just as high, and with Red Dead Online we are continuing to build and expand to match the world we created for Red Dead Redemption 2‘s story, not just with the roles but other activities, new random events, characters to meet, new ways to engage with the world and further inhabit your character, as well as trying to improve the overall experience.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

I don't mind single player that's what I prefer more.

Unfortunate. Would have loved an Undead DLC like the first game. Of course though they have to focus on people buying shark cards and gold bars. Did they ever add private lobbies to RDR2? I mean, that is one of the things I like about single player. Not having to worry about randoms just murdering people. If you gave me Online DLC that I could privately play and completely play with a friend, then I'd be sold. Being stuck behind some stupid "must be in an open lobby" garbage kind of kills it for me.

I hate that they're doing this, they did the same with gta 5, I think most people would prefer some single player content like gta 4

Well maybe some people dont have access to online features they forget single player games is what helped that franchise grow. I dare them to do the same to GTA6 i legit dare them. I dont care how good that game will be i still wont get it.
