Google Play Pass is Here With 350 Games and Apps for $4.99 Per Month

Google Play Pass brings users over 350 games and apps with no ads or in-app purchases for the $4.99 per month.

Google is jumping into the mobile subscription space this week with Google Play Pass. This comes just a week after Apple released the Apple Arcade; however, these two services differ on a number of points. That said, the first thing most people are going to want to know about is what’s coming to the service. Watch Google’s release trailer below to get a good overview of what you can expect.

Google Play Pass will be available this week on all Android devices. Unfortunately, the service is, for now, exclusive to the U.S. Google plans to bring it to other markets later, but firm details have not been announced. The service will run you $4.99 per month; however, if you hop in now, you can lock in a year at $1.99 per month. Given that the service provides 350 games and apps with new ones being added every month, that deal feels like a no-brainer.

As far as content goes, Google Play Pass includes some bangers. Games like Reigns: Game of Thrones, Terraria, and Stardew Valley represent some of the higher-profile games that come with the bundle. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re an Android user, this looks well worth your money.

Google Play Pass is different from Apple Arcade in a number of ways. One of the biggest is that the games do not need to be exclusive to the service, which also means Google isn’t funding the development of any of these games at this time. The other major difference is that the service includes apps and games. So, Google is including things like Accu-Weather and Tunable in the bundle. This could lead to a weird future where any app not on Play Pass is never downloaded. However, if Google does a decent job of cultivating the library, it should only be a net positive for users.

Google Play Pass is rolling out this week on Android devices. The introductory price ends October 10, so jump in fast.

WeAreNotYourKind Who wants to pay for mobile games?

As phones get more and more advanced, I'm willing to pay for better Triple A title games on my phone. However, those are far and few in between. My 8GB of RAM is not needed for Clash of Clans..

Won't be getting something like this. Doesn't make sense to me, personally. Why should I pay $5/month for a game that cost $5? I doubt there are more than 5 in total that I'd like to play.

I rarely play games from Google Play so I wouldn't pay.
