Pokemon Go Had Its Best Month Since Back in 2016

Despite the explosion of Pokemon G0 back in 2016, the game continues to do well. In fact, the game just had its best month since August of 2016 and brought in $176 million.

Per SuperData’s monthly worldwide digital earnings report, this was the best month of the year for the mobile game due to a focus on events. It was the leader in the earnings charts for mobile titles last month, just beating out Honour of Kings.

While the game has slowly been declining, there is still match for Fortnite as it was ranked number 1 as the top-grossing title for consoles. Madden NFL 20 came in at number and its sales dipped about 6% compared to last year.

Since the release of World of Warcraft Classic last month, they have seen a rise in subscriptions, estimating about 223% in August compared to July. This brought them up the PC rankings to Number 3.

For the top 10 grossing titles listed by category (PC, Console, Mobile) take a look at the image below.

I am sure everyone has their own Pokemon GO story. I know I do. I was taking summer classes at my alma mater at the time and didn’t really know how the game would affect students on campus. I knew that it would be big, but I didn’t think it would be that big. Next thing I know, students are roaming the San Marcos River over by the basketball Stadium at 3 o’clock in the morning trying to catch some Pokemon. I remember one guy thought he would have a better shot at catching a Magikarp if he actually floated down the river. Now I love video games as much as the next guy, but I don’t think I love them enough to float down a river a 3 am by myself.
