In a new interview, Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto discuses the future of Monster Hunter.

In a new interview with Destructoid, Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto discusses the future of the franchise following the sucess of Monster Hunter: World.

“Regardless of the success of Monster Hunter: World, we’ve always taken the approach of focusing on two things: action and communication,” says Tsujimoto. “Regardless of what we work on in the future, I feel like that’s a foundation we’re probably not going to change. We also understand that we do have a bigger player base, and yet, there are still many people who don’t know about the franchise.”

Tsujimoto also mentions how since Monster Hunter World: Iceborne would be some player’s first game in the franchise, the developers didn’t want to have a deep narrative in the game. Additionally, he says the recently released Monster Hunter World: Iceborne would delve into the history of characters that were introduced in World.

“I think our approach to the games isn’t going to change, but it’s a matter of figuring out how to broaden our audience,” Tsujimoto continues. “For example, more events, different entertainment tie-ins such as a movie, kind of looking at it from a broader perspective.”

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne launched last week and it features new story content, locations, and monsters to fight. Leading up to its launch, game director Kaname Fujika discussed where the series will go with the next-generation consoles coming up.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
